Youtube video embed how to..
Open a new article in the admin article manager. Give it your title and have the youtube video embed code from Youtube or another video sharing site. The way I normally insert a video is as follows, firstly I write all the text out first. This gives you a general feel of how the text is going to be laid out and where the best placements are for your images or video.
The video we are using for this demonstration is a Professor from the School of Media Studies and Information Technologies in Toronto. If you are interested in Web design or even graphic design, this is a very good tutorial, by a really good tutor. He also has a couple of other videos on his Youtube channel that are worth watching too.
Basically what we are going to do is paste the embed code into this page. But how you ask? Easy I say. Firstly copy your embed code to notepad or the text editor that you use. Done? good, now what I have done is created an extra space between this paragraph and the one above. Now this is where I am going to paste my video code. By creating the extra line, we have created a blank paragraph in the html code. We are basically going to drop our video in that paragraph.
Our code for this video is:
<object style=”height: 293px; width: 480px”><param name=”movie” value=”http://www.youtube.com/v/G8aBKYWYxBI?version=3″><param name=”allowFullScreen” value=”true”><param name=”allowScriptAccess” value=”always”><embed src=”http://www.youtube.com/v/G8aBKYWYxBI?version=3″ type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” allowfullscreen=”true” allowScriptAccess=”always” width=”480″ height=”293″></object>
Now we switch to the html code by clicking the html button, or with in my case using CKeditor, I click the source button. This will swap the WYSIWYG to html. Find the blank paragraph, it will start with <p style=”text-align: left;”> and to fill the empty space something like Delete the and replace with our video code. If you want to centre or align to the right, replace left; with either center or right. At the end of the line of code make sure you have the paragraph closing statement still there, it should look something like this </p> and maybe on the line below.
Job done now save and preview.
This works pretty much the same in wordpress but you need to add the <p> and </p> tags.
Using the standard editor, click the html tag and insert the embed code, if you want to centre it add the code with the style tag, <p align=”center”>
